Alec Fenton was a businessman who owned many companies in the Yorkshire Dales, including Fenton's Lorries and Skipdale Motors. In 1982, Joe Sugden allowed Fenton's lorries to temporarily dump goods at Primrose Dingle. However in October 1982, Henry Wilks began complaining. When a paper boy was almost struck by a lorry in November 1982, Alec told the drivers to not drive through Main Street. One of the drivers ignored this and it was reported that he was still using the Main Street route. Alec sold Joe Sugden a flash car for a small price as a bribe but this failed and the contract, that has recently expired, was not renewed.
