Brian Hibbard (26th November 1946 - 17th June 2012) appeared in Emmerdale as Bobby-John Downes in August 2003 and May 2006.

Hibbard was born in Ebbw Vale, Gwent in Wales and first found fame as the founding member of the a cappella The Flying Pickets. In 1983, they had a number one hit with their first single - a cover of Yazoo's "Only You", topping the charts for five weeks and won the Christmas number one slot that year.

After leaving the group in 1986, Hibbard went on to have an extensive acting career, with appearances in other television shows such as Doctor Who, EastEnders, Heartbeat, The Bill, Casualty, Holby City, Dalziel and Pascoe, Doctors, Minder, Birds of a Feather and Barbara as well as a regular role in fellow ITV soap Coronation Street as Doug Murray, appearing between October 1992 and June 1993.

He died in June 2012 at the age of 65 from prostate cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2000.
