Brook Cottage (previously Mill Brook Cottage) is a 3 bedroom cottage in Emmerdale that is currently home to Diane SugdenDoug Potts, Bernice Blackstock and Gabby Thomas.

History

In the late 1930s a Mr Patterson lived at the cottage and fought at Dunkirk in 1940 in which he saved his batallion but lost a leg. After the war he returned to Beckindale and was nicknamed Peg Leg Patterson. He died in the house.

2004 - 2006: The Thomases

Brook Cottage was first seen living in by main characters in 2004, when the building was used as the vicarage for St. Mary's ChurchAshley Thomas lived there with his daughter Gabby Thomas . His curate Ethan Blake stayed in Brook Cottage for a short while.

In 2005, Laurel Potts moves in with Ashley and they marry. Ashley's neice Jasmine Thomas and his father Sandy Thomas also move in to Brook Cottage during this time, much to the delight of Gabby as her family grows. During 2005, Steph Stokes briefly stays at the house.

In 2006, after Jasmine, Debbie Dingle and Daz Eden accidentally set the vicarage on fire, the Thomases are forced to move to Mulberry Cottage .

2007 - 2011: The Nicholls and The Kings

Following the vicarage fire in 2006, Brook Cottage remained vacant until Scarlett Nicholls gazumped Matthew King to purchase the property. Scarlett moved in with her mum Carrie Nicholls, and her sister Lexi King moved in shortly afterwards. Carrie emigrated to Canada in 2008, leaving Lexi and Jimmy King to look after Scarlett. In late 2008 King and Sons growing debts caused Scarlett and Lexi to be evicted from Brook Cottage.

Ali comes to view it and tells Rachel that she really likes it, so they visit Declan Macey and ask if she can rent the cottage. Former occupant, Nicola King overhears and isn't happy when Declan agrees. Ali soon returns to the village with Rachel and her children, Amelia and Sean, to move in but Sean is unhappy when Ali's girlfriend, Ruby Haswell, joins them. 

She, Ruby and the children live quietly for a while until Declan's sister, Megan Macey, takes a shine to the cottage and gives them notice to leave as she plans to live there with her son, Robbie Lawson. When Declan learns of this, he is unhappy and tells Megan to withdraw the notice, but Megan has already gone to check the house out.
