Bruce Baines was a jewellery salesman who organised a jewellery sale at Home Farm in August 2007. When Chas Dingle tells her friends about it, Lexi Nicholls managed to con Bruce into an invite, while Debbie Dingle sabotages his car and offered to fix it in exchange for an invite. The trio caused a blackout and stole the necklace unseen. Another version of the necklace was found, but Matthew King realised it was a fake and Bruce was furious with Rodney Blackstock when Rodney accused him of being a scammer. He stormed over to Debbie's to see what she knew about the missing necklace, and ended up getting physical with her. Bruce left when Debbie's cousin Eli got involved and beat up Bruce.
