Buckley was a businessman and was the director of Buckley Builders in Bradford. Henry Wilks employed Buckley's men for plans with the pig unit in 1973. Buckley's car got stuck in mud so Matt Skilbeck helped him get it out. A human skull was found by David Reece while digging the foundations for the new piggery and this delayed building. Buckley and his cronies tried to bully David's girlfriend Gwen Russell when she questioned them over the skull findings. Archaeologists were called. Buckley hatched a plan to disrupt the excavations. However, an accident occurred when a young woman was injured due to Buckley's plan to disrupt the excavations. Wilks ordered workers stop work temporarily. Wilks then decided to abandon the pig unit construction completely, and Buckley and his workforce left the village.
