Celia Daniels was a farmer with a fearsome reputation who rented a neighbouring farm to Butlers Farm. She was also the mother figure of drug dealer, Ray Walters, whom she took in off the streets.

Biography[]

In June 2025, Celia turned up at Butlers Farm to inquire about renting two fields from Moira Dingle. Celia knew Butlers was in dire financial straits due to a hefty fine following a slurry leak the previous month so offered Moira just £500 a month for the fields but Moira rejected her offer having heard about Celia. Later that day, Celia had a run in with local vet Paddy Dingle and told him he was trespassing but Paddy reminded her that he was on a public road. Shortly afterward, Celia's dog viciously attacked Paddy after he freed one of Celia's sheep from a barbed wire fence. When he was out of hospital, an emotional Paddy went to Celia's farm with a bolt gun but Celia told him she had already shot the dangerous dog and intimidated him into leaving.

In August 2025, Celia was unhappy when Joe Tate informed her that his step-grandmother Kim was going to be raising the rent on her farm, so she went to Moira and proposed an alliance to provide meat to a local spa hotel in order to make more money, and Celia was pleased when a desperate Moira agreed to this.

By early October 2025, Celia is revealed to be the true mastermind behind the drug operation in the village. For weeks, suspicion had fallen on Ray Walters, but it emerges that Celia has been controlling events from behind the scenes. In a shocking development, she is also revealed to be Ray's 'adoptive' mother, giving her a personal as well as criminal authority over him.

The revelation comes after April Windsor suffers a crisis when her younger brother Leo accidentally consumes pills that she had dropped. Wracked with guilt, April moves toward confessing, but Celia intercepts her. Initially posing as a confidante, Celia quickly shows her darker side. She slaps April, threatens her into silence, and warns that her family could face serious consequences if she talks.

This confrontation highlights Celia's ruthlessness and establishes her dominance over Ray, who had shown signs of hesitancy. She scolds him for being too soft and makes it clear that he is subordinate to her within the operation. As October progresses, Celia's presence in the village becomes even more menacing. Her grip tightens over those ensnared in her schemes, and she shows signs of becoming more dangerous with each passing moment. She also references earlier incidents, including the dog attack on Paddy Dingle, hinting that old secrets and past actions could resurface.

Trivia[]

  • Actress Jaye Griffiths explained in an interview the reason Celia covers her neck, saying "Celia wears a cravat because someone has tried to cut her head off. So it's very subtle, and it's only halfway across, because obviously they didn't succeed in cutting her throat" "there's a lovely bit where Bob looks at my neck and then his eyes flick away, and that's the only time, that's it. It's just a hint of a former life, a life elsewhere where bad things have happened to her."
