When Lilith Dingle's kids, under the care of her cousin Marlon and his wife Donna, ran away from home, DS Richards led the investigation into their disappearance. Richards brought their belongings to Marlon and Donna in The Woolpack after they were found at the police station and told them they were seen boarding a train to Hotten. Unbeknownst to them, however, they were holed up in Seth's hide over on Home Farm land. Marlon's brother Eli found them and immediately brought them over to The Woolpack. Marlon became concerned when he overheard their Uncle Tony on the phone, and was convinced that he didn't want them. He and Donna decided to go on the run, but they quickly realised that they had no option but to give themselves up at the police station. Richards and his colleague Charlotte Ripley questioned the couple. He later informed them that they wouldn't be charged with abduction, and the kids wouldn't be returned to Tony, but had been placed into emergency accommodation.
