Demdyke Quarry was a quarry which was founded in 1996 by local businessman Frank Tate. Jack Sugden sold Hawthorn Cottage to make way for the new quarry. When Frank died in May 1997, his son Chris Tate and daughter Zoe Tate took over the running of the quarry.
