An unnamed district judge was present during Gabby Thomas and Liv Flaherty's trial in April 2018. Gabby's solicitor defended Gabby well, however Liv's solicitor did a very poor job, even calling her Claudia and forgetting her surname. The district judge took into account of the death of Gabby's father, the unlikelihood of her re-offending and the remorse shown, and sentenced her to four months community service. However, despite taking into account of Liv's father's suicide, she also noticed Liv did not appear remorseful (as Liv had given up hope after her solicitor's poor performance) and sentenced her to four months imprisonment.
