Dot Dingle (née Colton) was a widow who served housekeeper for the Oldroyds in the 1910s. In 1914, Dot and Margaret Oldroyd discovered the body of Margaret's father Albert, who had died in his sleep. In November of that year, Dot decided to work in a factory in Bradford to help out the soldiers. In 1917, Dot's brother, Olly, went missing and was declared dead in absentia.
