Emmerdale Village Institute (also known as the Village Hall) is a community building in Emmerdale, situated on Church Lane next to the Gennie Walker Memorial Playground. It was built in the 1800s by the Verney family.
Many of the village nativity plays and other community events have taken place in the hall over the years, including the village playgroup, art contests, dance classes, a football group, coffee mornings, bereavement counselling, holiday clubs, 'Belly Shrinkers' weight loss group, choir practices, private functions and parties.
In August 2015, the hall hosted Debbie Dingle and Pete Barton's wedding reception. During the reception, a helicopter crashed into the village hall, resulting in the deaths of Ruby Haswell and Val Pollard and leaving others injured.
In August 2019, vicar Harriet Finch allowed Charity Dingle to run the pub from there after The Woolpack was shut down when it was found to be suffering from dry rot.
