Enid Pottle was a local poet who slapped Mick Ledder in the Woolpack in front of the customers when he said he had shot a fox. Woolpack landlord Amos Brearly also showed interest in Enid and her poems but she said some choice words to him, and he was put off by them.
Enid lived at a cottage called "Dale View" but whether it is the current Dale View Cottage is unclear.
