Plot[]
Part One: Vanessa and Leyla have been searching for April around Finchcliffe Road but have had no luck. A car comes speeding down Hotten Road almost hitting Manpreet. Jacob is the driver and he breaks down sobbing at the wheel. Chas invites Ruby to help her look for April later in the day. She also asks Ruby to thank Anthony for paying everyone's travel costs to keep the search ongoing. Jacob apologises to Manpreet, explaining he had just finished his shift at the hospital and stayed on for some extra studying and is exhausted. Ruby tries to make up with Steph but gets nowhere fast. Anthony reveals he has had Steph's necklace fixed and she is overjoyed. He tells Ruby he will try to put in a good word for her with Steph. Kim worries about Will's funeral and asks Joe to accompany her in front of an unimpressed Dawn. Jacob confides in Manpreet about his first shift in A&E. Marlon has been out all night and morning. He tells Rhona he has been looking for April but she confronts him about Laurel. Chas meets Ruby to search for April but finds Ruby drunk. Marlon explains to Rhona that he had a call from Laurel who was in a bar and had had a couple of drinks and needed someone to help her stop. He explains Laurel tried to kiss him. Rhona is hurt that Marlon didn't tell her. Ruby reveals to Chas that Caleb might not be Steph's father.
Part Two: Ruby explains that she was forced into sex with a lad that she knew and that Caleb can never know. Manpreet offers to build Jacob's confidence back up and encourages him to find coping mechanisms. Chas tries to encourage Ruby to find out if Steph is Caleb's daughter and face her abuser and get justice but Ruby worries that dredging up the past will result in her losing both Steph and Caleb. Charity interrupts them and Ruby takes the opportunity to sneak off. Anthony encourages Steph to make amends with Ruby. Dawn tells Joe that she doesn't want him at Will's funeral but he insists he will be there as Kim wants him there. She goes to hit him as Kim walks in. Marlon tries to make Rhona see that Laurel's attempt to kiss him was nothing and that he only stayed quiet because he didn't want to run the risk of causing her another relapse. She's hurt that he didn't trust her enough to tell her at the time it happened. Jacob calls Rich and they arrange to go drinking. Anthony persuades Ruby to cook her birthday dinner for Steph even though she doesn't feel up to it. When his back is turned, she orders a DNA test kit online.
