Matt discovers that work at Emmerdale Farm is the last thing on Jack's mind at present - and he decides it's time for a few home truths. Meanwhile, Archie finds an injured owl and makes a friend in Francesca.

- Events from Episode 1 (16th October 1972) are nodded to as, for the first time in over a decade, Marian Rosetti runs into Jack Sugden and on horseback, approaches him with the question "Do you like the view?" - the first words her character uttered both to Jack and in the programme. Jack responds also with a similar answer to which he gave in the first episode. A slight irony to this reference is that since the first episode, the actors portraying Jack and Marian had been recast with neither actor having portrayed the original interaction between them.
