Plot[]
Amos is determined not to be caught out twice by the bird-watchers. Also he is still worried that Henry is going to move to Italy, seeing as Seth saw Henry at the travel agents in Hotten earlier on. Amos confronts Henry and asks him straight. Henry asks Amos why he thinks that he is emigrating to Italy and Amos says he heard Henry was a bit sick of the pub and wished he could be abroad, and he had a massive row with Amos a few weeks before. Henry says that he is going to Italy but for about 3 weeks in October for a holiday. He reassures Amos that it is not to live as he is too old to move on and plans to stay at the pub, saying it is bad enough in Beckindale let alone a foreign country. Amos is mightily relieved and says they need to get ready for opening. Sandie faces up to the truth about her relationship with Phil. She pretends they are both glad she had a miscarriage but Sandie is not pleased. The twitchers have had news of a Ross's Gull on the Yorkshire coast and have gone there, and Amos and Henry have organised a spread again at the Woolpack. A waste of time. Seth jokes that he can lend Amos his bike.
