Plot[]
A fox has killed four geese at Emmerdale Farm and Jackie becomes determined to put a stop to it. Everyone is busy with shearing season and Pete Whiteley is helping out at Emmerdale. Dolly is planning to leave with Sam, but Matt tries to convince her to stay one more day so they can celebrate the end of shearing together with the rest of the family. Pete and Rachel are flirting with each other and are almost caught by Dolly. They make plans to meet up later that evening when everyone else will be at the Woolpack. Annie finds Dolly packing and wonders if it really is over between her and Matt and Dolly says it is. They're not quarrelling anymore, but she feels they're more like friends now than a couple. Pete and Jackie make a bet that Jackie won't get the fox in one day. Dolly tells Annie that she and Matt won't divorce right now. She doesn't think there's any need for it. Annie wonders what will happen if someone else comes along, like Stephen Fuller did, but Dolly says that won't happen again. She has no desire to meet anyone new. Annie suggests Matt might though, and Dolly realises she hasn't considered that. Jackie enlists Seth's help in catching the fox. Later Jackie sees Pete and Rachel kissing and confronts Pete about it. He denies that there is anything between them, but Jackie doesn't buy it. Rachel makes an excuse to avoid going to the Woolpack with the others and meets up with Pete instead. Matt tells Dolly that he just wants her to be happy and that he realises their marriage is over. Seth helps Jackie set up a trap for the fox outside his den. Kathy is annoyed when Jackie doesn't come home. After a long wait Jackie tires of waiting outside the fox's den and heads home in his Land Rover. Suddenly the fox appears in front of him. He stops the car, gets out and tries to take out his gun, but it's stuck on the seatbelt. He gives it a hard pull and it goes off, killing him instantly.....
