Alan has left Carol in the lurch, and The Woolpack is snowed under with hikers. Chris and Kim finally settle their deal, and Chris now owns her shares of Home Farm properties. Jack and Sarah attend Robert's parents evening and are shocked that they have to worry about his exams this early. Frank's worried about Zoe's overworking and dedication to being a vet and confronts Archie for some answers on her behaviour. Alan faces a real eye-opener when he sleeps on the streets of Skipdale for the night and gets a taste of what being homeless is really like. He meets an obnoxious police officer and is on the receiving end of a furious Marie, who mocks him and is offended by his previous do-gooder attitude. Marie urges him to consider putting a roof over her head, but he can't bear to do it, despite feeling emotionally wrecked at her living conditions. Joe recommends renting out a yard in Robblesfield to Kim. After being informed by Marie what Alan's up to at the drop-in centre. Shirley spies on him at his place of rest for the night in a derelict building.
