Plot[]
Zoe walks Peggy and bumps into Sophie. The two discuss how they’re coping. Zoe sees Jack pull up in his Land Rover at the gates of Home Farm and goes over to see what he wants. Jack cracks open the champagne that Frank had given him as a peace offering over Emmerdale Farm, but Zoe’s horrified that Jack could be so callous. He reminds her how Frank treated him over the farm and Zoe orders Jack off their land. As she storms off, Jack doesn’t have the heart to drink the champagne and pours it away. Sarah meets with Miss Cullen to talk about Andy's behaviour and Miss Cullen determines that Andy would be excluded. Sarah’s defensive and suggests that it’s Miss Cullen's incompetence in dealing with a mischievous boy that was partly to blame and persuades the teacher to let Andy explain. Begrudgingly, Miss Cullen agrees to hear Andy's side of the story but is outraged when Andy accuses her of picking on him because he can’t answer questions and vows to have him excluded until he knows how to behave properly. Zak takes up Terry's offer to provide lyrics in return for beer and pens a little number called "The Ballad of Frank Tate", which is less than complimentary. When Terry asks for the money for the drinks he had bought, Zak places a pile of lyrics on the counter. Eric comes into the pub with Dee and is very happy about having a drink to Frank’s passing. His glee at a prospective singsong about Frank unnerves Terry. However, once things get into full swing, everybody appears to be enjoying themselves. Zak begins to think about Frank's death and declares that Frank was no better than anyone and wasn’t so dissimilar to him as he grafted for his family, leading into a tirade about how unfair money can be with Frank getting away with murder and wreaking havoc with evictions and sackings, whereas his family are prosecuted for minor misdemeanours. Rachel arrives at Home Farm. Chris is upset that Joseph isn’t with her. Zoe’s pleased to see Rachel but is surprised at how few people have arrived at Home Farm, but Rachel suggests that they would probably meet them at the church. Chris accidentally drops his glass on the floor in the living room and goes into shock. Zoe, Rachel and Sophie rush to his aid. Chris decides not to go to the church as he can’t face the people there. He declines Sophie's offer to stay and help him look after James and they leave. He breaks down in tears and talks to James about how he felt he had been a failure in his father's eyes and told his little brother that there’s more pressure to be successful now than ever, while he touches an array of pill bottles. He’s speechless when he hears a familiar voice. Jan’s keen to give Frank some thought but the rest of the Glovers are nonchalant about his passing. Roy comments that Frank would not care if one of them had died. On the way to the church, unaware that Kim’s observing them, a reserved Zoe wishes Chris could have opened up to her, as she knew he was hiding everything away. As people come to the church, including Butch who wants to see Sophie, Betty remarks how empty it is compared to Dave’s funeral and adds that this was perhaps justice. Zoe’s pleased to see Jack there. During the ceremony, Reverend Thomas reflects on how much Frank had done for the community. Betty snidely remarks if he’s talking about the same person. Zoe has a feeling that something is wrong and wants to get back to Home Farm and leaves, telling Sophie to stay. Kim puts on an act for Chris claiming that she has just heard about Frank's death. She taunts him by saying that he was always second best when Frank was around and realises that he was about to commit suicide and laughs. She says that he wanted her and starts to kiss him. She pulls away just as Zoe walks in.
