Plot

Part One: Viv and Carol head for Chesterfield convinced that Bob has another wife on the go. Bernice gets defensive when Diane makes an unflattering joke about Carlos. Eric seeks out Gloria who has not turned up at the factory again. He pleads with her to come back. Diane overhears a conversation between Bernice and Carlos and is disturbed by its tone. Viv and Carol arrive at Fir Tree Avenue in Chesterfield and witness Bob leaving number 43. They witness him playing with a young girl, alongside a young woman at the door with a baby. Viv goes to confront him as he gives the woman a kiss on the cheek but Carol decides they should follow him to see where he goes next. Gloria returns to the factory having been given a promotion to Productivity Manager by Eric. Carol and Viv have followed Bob to a B&B. They see him leaving an older woman who hands over some money to him. They believe she is paying him for sexual favours.

Part Two: Viv and Carol follow Bob to a third location where they spy him buying and eating food with two young children. Viv realises that one of the children is the spitting image of Bob and that they must be his children as well. Diane keeps a close eye on Bernice and Carlos. Viv and Carol witness the two children with Bob get picked up by a woman who drives off without even speaking to him. Eric has decided to sack a member of the team as it is costing him too much money to employ all of them. They identify Betty as their slowest worker. The factory staff, minus Edna, rally around Betty offering to train her up to a suitable standard and take a 10% cut in wages for a fortnight until she's fully trained. Singling Edna out as the weak link, Gloria reveals that Edna is actually the slowest worker and she is sacked instead. The remaining factory staff are not too troubled at seeing her go. Viv and Carol follow Bob to a field at the side of the road where they witness his car rocking up and down. Convinced he has another woman in there with him, Viv goes over to confront them both with Carol close behind. She actually finds Bob pumping up a lilo. They reveal to a shocked Bob that they have been following him all day and know what he has been up to. They accuse him of being a bigamist and a prostitute selling sexual favours to the elderly. Bob sets about explaining leading Carol to storm off as Viv appears to be swallowing what he has to say. Bob comes clean to Viv and admits he hasn't been entirely honest. He reveals that he has been married three time previously and has four kids - two in Spain and two that she witnessed him with earlier in the day; Mr & Mrs Hope in Chesterfield are his brother and sister-in-law - he has been getting his sister-in-law to sell stock for him on the side; the visit to the B&B is because he is fiddling his expenses and claiming he's staying there - he is providing the owner with free hosiery in exchange for paperwork saying he's staying there when in reality he is sleeping in his car; he also admits he has just started seeing daughter Carly and son Josh again and is now paying them maintenance which is leaving him skint. He assures Viv that he is divorced from the first three marriages and has the paperwork to prove it. They make up.
