Marlon surprises Donna with a new dress and announces he's taking her to the police ball. Donna and Marlon arrive at the same time as Ross and Chas and Donna avoids Ross's gaze. Chas is miffed when Ross ignores her and she takes to the stage for the open mic comedy spot, but ends up taking the mickey out of the compere. Chas and Marlon get into a row with the compere and are chucked out! Marlon tells Donna to stay as he doesn't want to spoil her evening. Donna enjoys the rest of the night, that ends with a slow dance with Ross, who walks her to her hotel room. Later, Ross knocks on Donna's door and she lets him in, but their good-natured banter soon turns into passion. Shane, meanwhile, stands outside Donna's door with a knowing smile. Katie is furious when she discovers that Nicola is working at Home Farm and Anna guiltily confesses that she convinced Matthew to hire her. Anna offers Katie a new client for the stables as a peace-offering. Later, Donald warns Anna not to mix business with pleasure and Anna assures him that she can handle Matthew. Also, Brenda asks Gennie to move in with her.
