- Due to the 1981 ITV Strike, this was the last episode to be broadcast this year. Episodes 697-702 were produced but never broadcast and when the programme returned with Episode 703 on 12th January 1982, no explanation was given to cover the happenings in the village in the episodes not broadcast.
- This was the final episode of the programme to be broadcast by Southern Television and Westward Television who had lost their franchises in the 1980 franchise round and who transmitted for the final time on 31st December; Associated Television technically retained its franchise, but was ordered substantial changes and proper rebranding. They were succeeded by Central Television, Television South and Television South West respectively.
