Plot[]
The COVID-19 pandemic has descended on Emmerdale, plunging the village and the nation into lockdown. With Samson stuck on his school trip in France, Zak in Scotland with Debbie and Mandy and Vinny isolating at the salon, Lydia and Sam find themselves clashing when Sam seemingly won't let Lydia leave the house. Later, the truth about Sam's over-protectiveness comes to light, and Lydia makes a promise to get tested for a serious illness.

- To facilitate the programme's return to production on 20th May following the shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, six episodes (this episode being the first) were filmed with strict social distancing measures in place and a par-backed crew, featuring characters during the lockdown via the use of two/three hander episodes. These episodes were filmed over a two week period.
- Also to facilitate this, the programme temporarily reduced further it's weekly output from three to two for the duration of these episodes.
