Eric Birdwick was an alias used by Frank Hencoller in February and March 1983. Frank ran a section in the Hotten Courier where, under the name "Eric Birdwick", Frank would go around to all the different restaurants and bars in the Yorkshire Dales and put in the column why people should visit/avoid a specific place. Amos Brearly, licensee of The Woolpack, was desperate to discover Eric Birdwick's true identity and impress him. However, he initially failed and when Frank came into the pub, he was rude to Frank. However, Frank revealed he was Eric Birdwick and Amos's mood immediately changed.
