In February 2003, Jarvis entered a dancing competition taking place at a hotel, with his neighbour Edna Birch as his partner. He was surprised to find Freda there after hearing her laughing with a barman. After catching up on old times, Jarvis told Freda he wanted more than just a dance partnership, but was dismayed to find she was already in a relationship with her current dance partner Roger. Jarvis organised a tea dance taking place at Emmerdale's village hall in December 2005. He was shocked when Freda arrived and stormed out; convinced he was set up. After having a dance together, Freda offered Jarvis the chance to live in Spain with her. He accepted her offer and they left the village together.
