Wendy Sutton was a young woman Nick Bates went out with on a date that was arranged by his mother Caroline. She and Nick met under the clock tower in Hotten and went to a nearby wine bar. The date was going well - with Nick telling her that he manages a farm estate, a job that he exaggerates, describing his boss Frank Tate as his foreman and Frank's wife Kim as his cleaner. However, Nick's friends David Glover and Luke McAllister turned up and embarrassed him. Assuming that the date was arranged to humiliate her, Wendy stormed out, but not before throwing her glass of wine over Nick.
