An unnamed fire officer arrived at the scene of the Home Farm Caravan fire in November 1982. The fire officer asked how the fire started, to which Jackie Merrick told him that there was an accident with a paraffin can. The officer initially believed Jackie, however the fire inspector discovered Jackie was lying and the fire was started deliberately.
