Freda Gimbel (Nee Keswick) was the wife of tyrannical bible basher Jim Gimbel. Freda was a friend of Annie Sugden and eventually left Jim in 1977 to stay with her sister in Leeds. She took their two sons Martin and Davey with them. Eldest daughter Kathy initially stayed on in Beckindale and had just moved into Demdyke Row with Joe Sugden. She soon joined Freda in Leeds.

Annie told Amos after Jim died that Freda was a Keswick before she married Jim.
