Gillian Partridge was a former girlfriend of Amos Brearly. Amos's aunt Emily Brearly was very keen on Gillian and made clear she thought Amos and Gillian should marry. In 1982, Amos told Henry Wilks as well as regular The Woolpack customer Walter the story about his girlfriend Gillian, who was exceptionally talented at George Formby impersonations. Gillian had entered a talent contest and was due to perform, however Amos's uncle Arthur Brearly accidentally sat on Gillian's ukulele, breaking it and causing her to lose the contest. Gillian broke up with Amos as a result.
