Jean rogers

Jean Rogers, born 2nd February 1942 in Perivale, Middlesex, was the second actress to play Dolly Skilbeck in 948 episodes of Emmerdale between 1980 and 1991. She took over the role from Katharine Barker.

Raised in Worthing, Jean decided she wanted to be an actress by the age of nine and practised, ballet, elocution and singing as well as drama before applying for drama school aged fifteen. Deemed too young, she applied again two years later and was accepted into the Guildhall School of Drama. She later became a founder member of the Royal National Theatre.

As a presenter, Jean spent seven years on Radio 4's Listen with Mother, and three years with BBC Schools programme Watch. Her pre-Emmerdale Farm acting roles included soaps Crossroads, General Hospital and Emergency Ward 10, and comedy George and Mildred. Since leaving Emmerdale she has appeared on TV in Law and Disorder (1994), Last of the Summer Wine (1999) and in films The Peacemaker (1997) and The Lazarus Child (2005).
