Joe Fisher was an immigrant from Australia who first appeared in September 2000 as the boyfriend of Jason Kirk.
Joe and Jason's relationship moved quickly however, their future was thrown into question when Joe received word that his Visa would expire at Christmas and he'd be forced to leave the country. Desperate to remain together, Joe and Jason soon happened on a way for Joe to stay in the country - he would have to get married. Despite opposition from her partner, Marlon Dingle, Tricia Stokes agreed to marry Joe and so the pair, along with Jason, set about creating a fake relationship history.
Although Edna Birch threatened to report Joe and Tricia to the Home Office, the wedding went ahead, and Joe and Jason were delighted when Joe's permanent residency came through a few weeks later. Unfortunately, Joe and Jason's relationship didn't last and Joe left the village a short time later, returning briefly later in 2001 to discuss a divorce with Tricia.
