Johnny Rogers was one of the boys who threw mud at Hilda Latimer upon her arrival in the village for Jim Latimer's trial for the murder of Sharon Crossthwaite in October 1973. Johnny lied that he was throwing mud on Hilda's coat, but it became clear what the truth was when word got around that Hilda had been arrested for assaulting Johnny's mother. In October 1974, Norah Norris and Henry Wilks caught Johnny stealing ginger beer from outside the Village Store.
