Lady Vanessa Weir was the wife of Sir Thomas Weir and the mother of The Honourable Daniel Weir. She lived at Weir Hall with her family near the village. Lady Weir resented her son's working class girlfriend Linda Glover. She was also a friend of Alan Turner, but Alan terminated their friendship because of the way she treated Linda, especially after Linda announced she was pregnant and Lady Weir called her gold-digging and being an immature little tramp. She also angered Linda's father Ned and brother Dave by calling her an overheated little whore.
