Lesley Manville (born 12th March 1956 in Brighton, Sussex) played Rosemary Kendall between 1975 and 1976.

Since leaving Emmerdale Farm, Lesley has become a versatile and award-winning actress, such as receiving an Olivier Award in 2014 for Best Actress.

She has appeared in films such as Vera Drake, Maleficent and the 2013 adaptation of the classic Shakespeare tragedy Romeo & Juliet. She has also appeared in various TV shows such as Coronation Street, Silent Witness, Cranford and Law & Order: UK and she portrayed William Hartnell's wife Heather in An Adventure in Space and Time, a drama documenting the beginnings of Doctor Who and Hartnell's time on the show. In 2017, she starred alongside Daniel Day-Lewis in the film Phantom Thread, receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Lesley was formerly married to actor Gary Oldman between 1987 and 1990, with whom she had a son, Alfie, in 1989. She then married actor Joe Dixon in 2000, divorcing him in 2004.
