Lewis Barton is the long-lost son of Emma Barton whom she placed for adoption. He is also the half-brother of Pete, Ross, and Finn Barton.
In May 2025, Lewis sent a letter to Butlers Farm addressed to the family of his late mother, Emma. The next day, his brother Ross got in contact and Lewis met Ross, who was previously unaware of his existence, in a public park. Lewis had lots of questions but found Ross was unwilling to talk about his family and he snapped at Lewis, saying they shouldn't see each other. However, Lewis wouldn’t take no for an answer so he tracked Ross down to the village and after an honest conversation, in which Lewis revealed that he already knew his mother was a murderer, Ross became more open. Lewis was pleased by this and he pushed Ross to let him meet Moira Dingle, Ross’s aunt. The next day, he relented and took Lewis to Butlers Farm to meet Moira, but Lewis quickly made things tense as he interrogated her about her son, Adam Barton’s involvement in Emma’s death.
Shortly after, Lewis told Ross that he was growing medicinal cannabis and agreed to give him some plants after complained of pain from his acid attack injuries. However, Lewis caught Ross’s accomplice Mackenzie Boyd breaking into his house on security cameras a week later to take more plants, while Ross tried distracting him. Frustrated by Ross avoiding the subject of their mother and his attempt to steal from him, Lewis said he would not release Mackenzie until Ross explained what happened to Emma. As Lewis pushed, Ross continued to be cagey about how Emma died but he eventually made a mistake as he referred to Emma’s killer as “she”. Soon Lewis worked out that the only woman Ross would work so hard to protect was his aunt Moira and Ross told him that she did kill Emma. After getting Ross to summon Moira, Lewis confronted her but was infuriated by her insistence that Emma deserved to die and threatened to go to the police, but Ross said if he did report them, then he would report Lewis’s cannabis operation. Lewis then stormed out, revealing that he had already let Mack out and saying he didn’t want Ross as a brother.
