Lewis Potter was a friend of Henry Wilks. Lewis moved to the village when George Verney sold him the house that used to belong to his wife Laura in December 1973. Sam Pearson played a trick on Henry and Lewis while they were birdwatching, by playing sounds on his recorder to make them think they heard cuckoos.
