Lucas Taylor is the son of Dawn Taylor and the half-brother of Clemmie Reed and Evan Fletcher. After spending over two years in foster-care, Lucas now resides with Dawn and her husband, Billy Fletcher, who adopted him in March 2023.
Biography[]
2014-2019: Social Services and foster family[]
Social services removed Lucas from drug addict Dawn's care just before his third birthday. Lucas lived with a foster family at Delford Way in Hotten and by February 2019 they were pushing for an adoption order. However, after getting clean Dawn started fighting to get him back. Lucas was seen the first time when social worker Sally arranged a meeting on 27th June 2019.
2020 to present: Returning to Dawn[]
In February 2020, Lucas stayed with Dawn for a night. After playing with pretend guns, Lucas found his grandfather Will Taylor's gun. Believing it was just a toy, Lucas took it downstairs and aimed it around the room. Billy Fletcher managed to get the gun off Lucas before anyone was injured. After In March 2020, Dawn was granted custody of Lucas and he moved in with her at Woodbine Cottage. However, Dawn struggled to bond with him and felt insecure after seeing how close he was with his foster mum, Carol. Before leaving Carol gifted Lucas a teddy bear which when he squeezed it, he would hear her voice saying "I love you Lucas". Lucas became extremely attached to the bear and continued to act up around Dawn.
In April 2020, Dawn invited Lucas' foster parents to her home to give her some advice on Lucas but was heartbroken to see how attached he was to them. When they went to leave Lucas asked to go with them and Dawn became even more upset when he exclaimed he hated her and wanted Carol. However, Carol told her to give it time and that these transitions were always hard. Not long after, Dawn learned the truth of the incident with the gun and told Will she no longer wanted him anywhere near her son. They kept living together though as they needed everything to seem fine for social services.
In July 2022, Dawn made the discovery that her former best friend Beth Reed's seven-year-old daughter Clemmie was Lucas's half sister as Beth had been having an affair with Dawn's former partner Alex Moore - resulting in her getting pregnant.

Additional information[]
- There is an inconsistency in the names of Lucas' foster parents. In 2019 they were referred to as Emilie and Niall Braxton but when Dawn met his foster mum in March 2020 she was named Carol and the following month his foster dad was introduced and named Ted.
