  • Would it be possible if you could upload a crisp image of Sam Dingle? The current image of Sam is from 2016 and think we could do with an up to date high quality image of Sam for his infobox.

  • Hi Benny,

I'm a content moderator over at the EastEnders Wiki, and I've noticed that your also an admin over there. I'm trying to become an admin, but you need an upvote and permission from all admins on the site. Kelvin 101 has already upvoted my vote, and I was wondering if you'd be ever so kind to do the same, I would appreciate it.

The link to my admin request is here - [1]

    Thank you.

    Sam

  • Hello! Sorry if I asked already but it appears that the image for this episode came from your wikia, and your wikia has a better synopsis. Do you happen to have the episode? I've been searching for it for the past year and a bit.

    • The latter half of 1986 was dull and boring, as was much of 1987. No proper villain replaced Mowlam. That nuclear story was drawn out. Emmerdale would have probably beaten Corrie in 1985 but ITV would not allow it. Shame. ITV hated it when Crossroads and Emmerdale were threatening their precious Corrie.

    • Shame that's there's an obvious bias towards Corrie. Why did they bother with the creation of another soap opera if they were biased towards Corrie? Channel 4 had both Brookside and Hollyoaks, and from 1995-2002, both the shows were treated equally, with Channel 4 more than happy to commission spin-offs and take risks, and defend their programmes decisions. Same with BBC.

  • Hi! I'm currently going through all the Emmerdale Farm episodes to create actor pages and character pages for which episodes I can, as well as expanding episode pages for the episodes I have. I'm currently up to 1984 but as you are working on Mr and Mary Metcalfe's pages, I can go through the episodes between Mr Metcalfe's first and last appearances to expand the plots so it's easier for you to add info to the pages?

      Loading editor
    • Thanks. Yes, I watched them again last night, and it is strongly hinted that he buried her in the garden of Crossgill. Matt Skilbeck tried to treat some of Metcalfe's neglected sheep as well. Matt was quite shocked when Metcalfe admitted her beat his wife to death.

Also in regards to the Major and Amos storyline in 1983, if Henry was at the golf match, he'd have put The Major in his place and stuck up for Amos. But yes, it did change Amos' attitude to Turner for good as up to then Amos liked Turner and tried to be friends. But after he overheard Turner agreeing that Amos was a bore and an idiot, Amos treated Alan Turner more frostily afterwards. That is evident in any episodes after the golf storyline. Amos always called him "Mr Turner" and was colder towards him. Benny1982 (talk) 12:43, December 14, 2018 (UTC)

    • Well there is a page called Events in Emmerdale but I think there should be pages for other events too like the storm, who killed Harry, the mystery arsonist (1990), who pushed Tom King etc, and the events in Emmerdale page could be easily amended to link to those pages.

    • I would love to read the new book "Christmas at Emmerdale" as I hope it gives the names of Jedediah Dingle's mother as well as Tom King's family as apparently the book set in 1914 does mention the Kings and Dingles as well as Sugdens. Benny1982 (talk) 22:16, November 10, 2018 (UTC)

  • Hi, do you happen to know if Mrs Hinton (mentioned in 1973) is related to Donald Hinton? I've gone through the episode but there doesn't seem to be any mention (however I may have missed something)

    • Annie only said "Pat has no mum" so I assumed that meant she was dead considering Dolly was mentioned to be alive in 1974. David wasn't mentioned by her then. I'm almost at October so maybe in the run up/on the wedding David may be mentioned

    • In 1974, Dryden Hogben gave back the keys of the forge to Dolly Harker then left the village once his fiancee tracked him down. I am sure Annie meant Dolly was dead when she said "Pat has no mum" so I'd take it as Dolly had died by 1982.

    • Tom's mother was said to have died prior to 1972, and had been a widow for some time. I reckon Tom's dad died during the war.

Amos' parents names were never stated but there was a lot of refs to them, and he said his mother was a Mullett by birth.

  • Currently I'm going through the Wanted Pages list and creating character and actor pages from most page links. However, I have noticed that you appear to have some sort of database of images, so are there any pages that you'd like me to prioritise in creating?

    • I hate the lousy visual editor being made my default without my permission. I always switch back to classic as the new visual one is total junk. If it is not broke dont fix it. Benny1982 (talk) 13:18, October 11, 2018 (UTC)

    • I used to use the visual editor but since it no longer has the drop down menu for the links, it has become impossible to use. I have ended up much preferring the classic editor anyway. You could change the classic editor to your default editor.

  • Hi Ben! Thank you so much for helping us out with the Emmerdale Farm era - very much appreciated! Just a few things I wanted to let you know about character pages:
    - A duration is only added to a character's page if they are a regular character.
    - The criteria for an Emmerdale character to be counted as regular is to appear regularly for 6 months and have about 40+ appearances, whereas an Emmerdale Farm regular would have to appear regularly for four months minimum with an appearance total of 30+ - for example, Derek Warner and Kitty Ferris both meet the criteria, however Laura Verney does not.
    - I'm unsure on whether you know this already, but there's an easy way to find out which episodes a character appeared in and were mentioned in. If you go into Special:Whatlinkshere and type in the character/actor's name, all the pages they are linked on will appear.
    Again, thank you very much!

    • OK I shall remember this. I think Tom Raistrick only did about 5 or 6 episodes.

I am glad to join this wiki and compare notes and such about Emmerdale plus look forward to adding pages, images, info and the like. I have been to Harewood and Esholt. Benny1982 (talk) 21:06, October 2, 2018 (UTC)
