Mr Hutchins was DI Mark Bails's barrister during his trial for the rape and false imprisonment of Charity Dingle in September 2018. Mr Hutchins questioned Charity about her time on the streets before asking her about Bails putting her up with a flat. Mr Hutchins tries to twist what Charity's saying to make it appear as if Bails had given Charity a chance to get her life back on track. However, he failed to convince the jury Bails was not guilty, and Bails was sentenced to thirty years imprisonment for rape, false imprisonment and living off Charity's prostitution earnings.
