Biography[]
1999-2021: Life before the village[]
Naomi was born in late 1999 although her father Charles Anderson didn't know of her existence until 2021, as her mother Esme left him as she was having post natal depression. Esme tried to care for Naomi for the first few months of her life but she was unable to due to her postnatal depression so she put Naomi up for adoption. Naomi was adopted by the Walters, who treated her well and she got along well with them.
In 2020, Naomi reached out to Esme and the two quickly formed a bond, with Naomi reminding Esme of Charles. In 2021, Esme told Charles about Naomi but she was reluctant to meet her father after everything Esme had told her.
2022-2023: Meeting Charles and Ethan, going to trial[]
In July 2022, Naomi was surprised to see Charles after he tracked her down to a bar she worked in. Naomi fled upon realising who he was and Charles ended up assaulting her boss as he tried to stop her. Charles continued trying to track Naomi down and so she turned up in the village to tell him to leave her alone. They argued in the church and Naomi stormed out, not knowing that Charles had tripped and hit his head as he had gone after her. She was reported to the police and arrested for assault but got released after Charles told them that Naomi hadn't done anything. After this, Naomi made up with her father and met her older brother, Ethan. She decided to stay in the village and move in with Ethan and his boyfriend Marcus Dean. However, Naomi took an instant dislike to Charles' partner, Manpreet Sharma and was constantly at odds with her.
Naomi soon took a liking to her other roommate, Nate Robinson, who seemed to be attracted to her as well. They soon started seeing each other and seemed to get along well. Unfortunately, Nate's job as a farmer meant that he was usually tired and didn't want to go out and party with Naomi, which irritated her. In September, Naomi was shocked when Nicola King claimed that she had been a part of a group of girls that had attacked her. Nicola has her arrested but Naomi denies everything and is released without charge. Later that day, Naomi is consumed by guilt and confesses that she was there to Charles, but claims not to have taken part in the actual assault. He then tells Nicola and they try to force Naomi to name the girls who were behind it, which she eventually does. They are all charged with GBH including Naomi.
In October, Naomi was unhappy when Nate’s ex, Tracy, returned with their daughter. She feels neglected as he spends a lot of time with them and this causes them to argue. Nicola continues to try to force Naomi out of the village as revenge for the attack and almost gets Charles fired in the process, causing Naomi to feel guilty about causing trouble for him. In November, the trial begins and Naomi testifies against her friends but this doesn’t deter Nicola. After Tracy’s departure, Naomi becomes suspicious about Nate’s behaviour and confronts him. He confesses that he cheated on her with Tracy, which hurts Naomi and causes her to dump him. She then lies to Charles about the way Nate and Ryan treated her when they lived together, making him confront them, but Ethan steps in to tell Charles the truth. Naomi later forgives Nate and they become friends. On 11th November 2022, Naomi is found not guilty of GBH but her friends are all sent down for the crime. Afterwards, Naomi makes up with Nicola as they agree to put the past behind them.
In February 2023, Naomi tried to help Ethan deal with his creepy boss by having Nate entrap him. However, he spotted Naomi and Marcus, so the plan didn’t work but Marcus ended up punching him. Ethan was angry with them about this and it lead to him breaking up with Marcus. Not long after, Naomi starts seeing Alex Moore, who is a part of Charles’s support group for ex-prisoners. Charles and Ethan warn her against dating a criminal but Naomi insists that he is a good person. Alex’s ex, Dawn Fletcher also tells Naomi to watch herself but Naomi accuses her of being jealous and tells her to mind her own business.
On 9th March 2023, Naomi and Alex go on a night out with Ethan and his friend Victoria to help Ethan move on from Marcus. After Alex defends Vic from a guy in the club, Ethan becomes more accepting of him which Naomi is glad about. However, Alex later steals drugs from the doctor’s surgery and is run over as he tries to flee the village, which devastates Naomi as she had trusted him. When Charles is arrested on suspicion of running Alex over, Naomi believes he did it as she knew he hated Alex but Charles is released. Alex then leaves without saying goodbye and Naomi is broken hearted.
In May, Naomi’s grandmother Claudette Anderson arrives in the village and Naomi gets along with her right away. They both dislike Manpreet and make this clear to her. However, things become complicated when Claudette’s husband Victor Anderson gets released from prison and Claudette immediately forgives him for everything. Naomi also likes her grandfather and doesn’t understand why Charles wants to keep him away until he explains that Victor attacked a young woman during an armed robbery. Naomi then wants to cut ties with him but Claudette convinced her to give Victor a chance.
In July 2023, Naomi became close with Vinny Dingle. She confided in him about her credit card debt and he offered to pay it with the money from his house sale. Initially, Naomi was reluctant but she soon gave in and accepted the money. After talking with Victor, who advised her to go see the world while she could, Naomi decided to ask Vinny for more money. He agreed and Naomi used this money to go travelling, leaving Vinny without a word.
