Nicolas "Nicky" Miligan (alias Nicky Fox) is the son of Caleb and Ruby Miligan and the half-brother of Steph Miligan as well as the grandson of Faith Dingle and Frank Tate and the partner of Suni Sharma.
In January 2023, Nicky became the live-in nanny at Home Farm as part of Caleb's scheme to bring down Frank's widow, Kim, and get his hands on her money. As part of the scheme, Nicky proposed to Gabby Thomas, who is the mother of Kim's grandson, Thomas Tate, but Nicky couldn't go through with the sham of a marriage so on the the day of their wedding, Nicky confessed to Gabby that he's gay.
Biography[]
2022-2023: Arrival at Home Farm[]
In December 2022, Nicky applied for the job as the nanny at Home Farm under his mother's maiden name and was interviewed by Kim Tate, Gabby Thomas, and Dawn Fletcher. Gabby was instantly attracted to Nicky and he was her favourite of the three candidates they had interviewed. After Dawn's preferred candidate decided she didn't want the job, Nicky was offered the position. Nicky accepted, and the following day, he returned to Home Farm to meet the children. Nicky got on great with Lucas and Clemmie which alleviated any fears Dawn had about him. Nicky officially began working at Home Farm on 2nd January 2023.
After weeks of flirting back and forth, Nicky and Gabby began a secret relationship. When Kim found out about the two of them she made no secret of her disapproval, but Gabby refused to break it off with Nicky. Soon after, Nicky proposed to Gabby to prove he was serious about their relationship and she accepted. Nicky's true identity was revealed to be the son of Caleb Miligan, and the grandson of Frank Tate, a short while later when he confronted Caleb about his relationship with Leyla Harding. Nicky asked Caleb what his wife would think about it but Caleb told Nicky that he and his mother weren't getting back together. On multiple occasions Nicky expressed a dislike for Gabby to his father, calling her shallow and stupid. Caleb was annoyed by Nicky's constant complaining, telling him he had it easy in the big house with his fiancé. A few weeks later in a conversation by the bridge, Nicky told his father he was gay, which was why he hated being in a fake relationship with a woman so much. Caleb accepted this and hugged his son, but still asked him to continue with the charade so they could get Gabby's money, as well as Kim's.
On 20th April 2023 Nicky's old friend Ally, showed up at the HIDE, which made Nicky uncomfortable. Ally then ended up having lunch with him and Gabby, despite Nicky's protests. Nicky and Ally later met up on a back road and it was revealed Ally was his secret boyfriend. He continued to see Ally in secret, telling him they couldn't be together because his father was pressuring him to marry Gabby, not mentioning it was a scheme to get money from her.
On 6th June 2024, the day of his forced wedding to Gabby Thomas as a scheme to steal money off Kim Tate, Gabby asked Nicky to adopt Thomas so they could be a proper family and this finally pushed Nicky too far. He told Gabby he was gay, that Caleb was his father and they had been scheming to take all of Kim's money, ruining the plan. Caleb was furious with Nicky for this, to the point that he punched Nicky in the face when they met in the stables afterwards. The next day, Gabby told Ally about Nicky and Caleb's scheme as well, making Ally dump Nicky and a miserable Nicky left the village. One week after the failed scheme Nicky returned to the dales when Caleb was in a coma after being pushed him off a ridge, only to be identified as the person who had attacked Caleb. When Caleb woke up, he and Nicky talked about everything that had happened and Caleb decided not to report his son to the police and Nicky agreed to move in with Caleb at Apartment One, Mill Cottage.
Upon his return to the village, Jacob Gallagher barred Nicky from David's Shop out of loyalty to Gabby which angered him. On 29th June 2023, Caleb brought Nicky a basketball to take shots in the Mill Cottage back garden. At this time, Gabby was still angry that Nicky was in the village and drunkenly confronted him outside the Woolpack after previously telling him to leave the village. Nicky walked away but Gabby followed him to Mill Cottage, shouting angrily at him and as he was about to close the gate on her, she tried to punch him but accidentally elbowed Billy Fletcher, who was trying to calm her down.
In July 2023, Suni Sharma arrives in the village and immediately expresses an interest in Nicky after they meet in the pub. The two hit it off and agree to go out, but their date is interrupted by Gabby, who takes great pleasure in telling Suni what Nicky did to her, shocking Suni and he leaves awkwardly. Nicky explains the situation a few days later and Suni understands, putting the relationship back on track. A few weeks later they throw a Pride party at Holdgate Farm much to the annoyance of Jai Sharma, Suni's half-brother who owns the building. He yells at them for disrespecting the house as his father, Rishi Sharma had died there not long before and kicks Suni out.
In September, Caleb makes Nicky a partner in Longbrook Private Hire along with his uncle, Cain Dingle and his cousin Nate Robinson. Nicky also began to grow closer to his father’s side of the family, even being invited to drink from the Dingle welly by his aunt Chas.
In October 2023, Suni confides in Nicky that his father, Amit Sharma, had confessed to being present when Rishi died, making Nicky suspicious and he suggested that Amit might have killed Rishi but Suni got angry, insisting his father wasn't capable. Nicky later spoke to Amit about this, insinuating that he knew what Amit had done, but Amit was reacted badly, yelling at Nicky to mind his own business and punching him. When Caleb saw his bruise, he asked what had happened, but Nicky lied that Amit didn’t approve of his relationship with Suni and the argument got physical. Caleb later attacked Amit in retaliation starting a feud between the two men and Nicky's relationship with Suni suffered as he still didn't trust Amit.
2024: Relationship with Suni, car crash, exit[]
In January 2024, Nicky discovers his father's affair with Tracy Robinson, his cousin Nate's wife, and he is furious with Caleb for betraying Nate. He tells Caleb to end it, or he will tell Nate and the rest of the village, which Caleb agrees to but Nicky soon learns he is still seeing Tracy. On 25th January, Nicky and Moira Dingle try to stop Nate from bursting in on Caleb and Tracy, but Nicky is surprised to find his mother, Ruby Fox-Miligan there instead. He is pleased to see her and hides the truth about Caleb's affair from his mother as he wants his parents to get back together.
However, Ruby causes problems for Nicky and Caleb as she antagonises the Dingle side of the family and reveals Caleb's affair at Belle Dingle's wedding in February. Nicky helps pull Nate off Caleb when he attacks him for sleeping with his wife but Nicky's uncle Cain then kicks all three of them out of the wedding. The truth about the affair causes Cain to disown Caleb as well as Nicky and Ruby, leaving Nicky angry with both his parents for their selfish behaviour.
Tired of his parents arguing, Nicky moves into Holdgate with Suni in May 2024, but they have an argument soon after and Nicky storms off. Later, Suni goes on a night out with Ethan Anderson and Gabby, so Nicky goes after them to make up with Suni. As Nicky apologises to Suni, Gabby reveals to a man in the club that Nicky is her ex and then he sees Nicky kiss Suni. The man then confronts Nicky and Suni, calling them freaks, so the couple leave to avoid a fight but the man and his friends follow them. They attack them in an alley, with the man's friends pinning Nicky while Suni is viciously beaten. Ethan and Gabby intervene to stop the attack but Suni still ends up in hospital and Nicky is left shaken after the attack but worries more about Suni. He refuses to leave the hospital until Suni is better and is concerned when Suni begins to act differently in the wake of the attack.
Later that month Suni calls Nicky in a panic, telling him the guys who attacked them are at the bar he's in and Nicky, who had been drinking with Ethan, immediately rushed to his car. Ethan tells Nicky he is too drunk to drive and volunteers himself, however, Ethan is also drunk and he ends up crashing the car, leaving Nicky unconcious. Ethan moved Nicky to the drivers seat and then ran away, leaving Nicky to be found by Moira Dingle who was passing. She calls an ambulance but Nicky is seriously injured in the crash and is left in a coma due to his injuries. The police soon discover that Nicky was not the one driving the car and Nicky's mother, Ruby takes it upon herself to get revenge on Ethan by running him over. Soon after, Nicky wakes up from his coma and fortunately has no lasting injuries from the crash. Later, Ethan visits him in the hospital and Nicky tells him he forgives him for what he did.
In early July, Suni tells Nicky he is thinking about moving away but Nicky says he doesn't want to leave his family. A little while later he asks Caleb to give him more responsibility in the car hire business and presents a business plan but Caleb dismisses him, causing the two to argue. Nicky says that his father has never been proud of him and Caleb tells Nicky he doesn't have a reason to be, causing a furious Nicky to punch him. Nicky then storms out and the next day tells Suni he would like to go travelling with him to get away from his dad. After hearing about this, Caleb tries to apologise but Nicky doesn't want to hear it and he ignores Ruby's pleas for him to stay. He left the village with Suni on the 4th July 2024 after an emotional goodbye with his mother.
