Norah Norris (neé Clegg) was the shopkeeper of Beckindale's village shop following Alison Gibbons departing the village in September 1974. Before Alison left, Norah showed her the ropes. At first, Norah was a bit lackluster with the shop, shutting the shop for an hour or so to do shopping and this annoyed her boss Henry Wilks. Norah soon settled down at the shop. Norah was a sassy lady with an eye for gossip. In January 1975, she got tired of her boss Henry going off on business all the time, so she walked out. Amos Brearly had to run the shop for a day or 2. Norah did return briefly but she yet again got fed up with Henry showing very little interest in the shop, so she left completely in February 1975 and was replaced by her friend Lena Dawkins. Norah handed the key to Lena before storming out and leaving the village. Once it became clear that Norah was not returning, Lena took over the shop.
