Paul Cooke was the ex-boyfriend of Latisha Daggert and the father of her son Kirk.
In July 2001, a heavily-pregnant Latisha left Paul after he hit her, and went to live with her mother Cynthia and brother Danny in Emmerdale, but on her way down a country lane, she went into labour. Jason Kirk found her, and helped her give birth. In September, Paul tracked Latisha down and gatecrashed Kirk's christening, demanding to know why he wasn't invited. He was taken aback when he realised Jason delivered his son. Feeling a little put out, he began to question the amount of time Jason spent with Latisha and his son. Jason retaliated, and asked Paul if hitting a woman would make him a real man. Danny was furious to discover that Paul had been hitting his sister and tried to attack him. Paul visited Latisha at work in an attempt to reconcile, but she was reluctant to speak to him. After urging him to leave, he insisted menacingly that they will talk again. Paul visited again, to Latisha's irritation, but she started to soften when he told her that he wanted to be part of Kirk's life. Latisha agreed to give him a chance, and started to make plans to return with him to Bradford, much to her family's shock. Cynthia and Danny tried to get Latisha to see sense, but their efforts were futile. However, after Paul punched Jason during another confrontation, Latisha realised he hadn't changed at all, and he was seen off by Cynthia and Ray Mullan.
