Pencross Fell is a local fell in Emmerdale, (formerly Beckindale). In 1987, the government decided to use Pencross Fell as a nuclear dump. For months, the villagers rebelled against the proposals, and this lead to many riots on the fell. So much so that Jack Sugden and some others received court orders, banning them from going onto Pencross Fell. To show that the village would not stop fighting, Jack breached his court order and went onto the fell, and did some minor vandalism. He was imprisoned for 7 days. In September 1987, the news was received that the government had decided to abandon the proposed dump. Jack visited the now peaceful and quiet Pencross Fell to celebrate, knowing the village would finally have some peace and quiet.
In February 1991, Emmerdale Farm got a letter to say they were blocking a bridle path between Pencross Fell and Filleigh Wood. They were told to clear it by 14th February or they would be billed. In May 1994 a shooting took place at Pencross Fell. Reg Dawson and his henchmen were involved in the shooting.
In October 1995, Jack helped some cub scouts feed some sheep at Pencross Fell.
Fell View Cottage was a cottage rented by Nellie Ratcliffe in the 1970s, and the cottage overlooked Pencross Fell.
