The shop flat was a flat located above the Village Store, Post Office & Off-Licence. The post office living quarters originally encompassed a kitchen and living area downstairs with bedrooms upstairs. However, in 2002, Viv Hope decided to develop the downstairs area into a cafe and the living quarters moved solely upstairs.
In January 2011, a fire started outside Victoria Cottage travelled down the row of houses, eventually reaching the shop, café and flat. Viv became trapped in the flat and Terry Woods went in to find her, however, the building exploded, killing Viv and Terry.
