Reg Dawson is the first husband of Viv Hope and father of Scott Windsor.
Reg, who abandoned Scott and Viv early in Scott's life, arrives in Emmerdale in May 1994. He has just been released from prison, and he commits a robbery which turns into a siege at Home Farm. He caused an explosion at the Post Office before taking Viv hostage, and later, Shirley Turner. He kills one of his henchmen, and Shirley, who died after jumping in front of Reg's gun, taking a bullet intended for Viv. Reg's other henchman Colin Long gives himself up. Reg is then shot dead by a police marksman. In his will, he leaves Viv several thousand pounds, but a stipulation said she had to leave her current husband, Vic Windsor, to receive the money. She declines and stays with Vic.
