Reuben Boyd Harris is the son of Chloe Harris and Mackenzie Boyd.
Biography[]
2023: Birth, illness and exit[]
Chloe Harris fell pregnant after a one-night stand with Mackenzie Boyd in early September 2022. Mackenzie was keen to keep their fling a secret as he was dating Charity Dingle at the time. Chloe tried to tell him that she was pregnant but he refused to speak with her and so she decided that she didn’t want him to be a part of her baby’s life. In November, Mackenzie discovered the pregnancy but Chloe told him to leave her alone, refusing his offer to financially support her.
On 20th April 2023, Chloe went into labour on the day Mack was marrying Charity and he chose to be there instead of attending the birth. Chloe gave birth to a healthy baby boy with her sister, Amy Wyatt, by her side. She named him Reuben and was soon able to take him home. Chloe struggled with insecurity over the first few days as she felt she didn’t know what she was doing and received advice from others. He first met his father when he was a week old and Mackenzie asked to hold Reuben but couldn’t show his true feelings s Charity was with him. She then noticed Reuben wasn’t gaining weight and took him to the hospital, and they said she should try feeding him formula instead of breast milk.
In May, he still wasn’t gaining weight and Chloe was worried that he was off-colour. She took him to the hospital again and the doctors were also concerned, saying that they needed to run some tests. Soon they diagnosed Reuben with bacterial meningitis and said he had to stay in hospital to be treated, though there were no guarantees he would make it. Chloe was completely devastated and refused to leave Reuben’s bedside. Mackenzie also arrived at the hospital to be with his son, which lead to Charity discovering the truth.
In June, Reuben recovered and his parents were both elated by the news. He was taken home to Keepers Cottage by Chloe and Mackenzie wanted to be with him as well. Soon they registered his birth and gave him Mackenzie’s surname, “Boyd”, as a middle name. His parents then began a relationship and devoted themselves to raising Reuben. In October, Chloe was in a car accident and Mack took him to the hospital to visit a comatose Chloe. When she woke up, Mack left her with Reuben and she revealed that she knew Mack had cheated on her with Charity and that he had left her to die after the accident.
After the end of Mack and Chloe’s relationship, Chloe took Reuben out of the village to punish him for leaving her. They lived in Leeds for the next couple of weeks as Chloe tried to hide from Mack as he desperately searched for them. When Mack almost tracks them down, Chloe decides that she needs help to leave the country and contacts her father Damon Harris. Damon loved playing grandfather to Reuben, but Chloe was adamant they had to leave. On 25th December 2023, Chloe blackmailed Mack into letting her take Reuben to France for a fresh start. Mack only had a few minutes to say an emotional goodbye to Reuben before he and Chloe left for France.
