Rik Makarem
Rik Makarem
(born 18th January 1982) is an English actor.

Born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, Makarem is currently known for playing cast regular Nikhil Sharma in Emmerdale. He has also starred in BBC's Torchwood Children of Earth alongside John Barrowman and has featured in ITV period drama Foyle's War. He is soon to be appearing in the upcoming period movie Anton Chekhov's The Duel, a novella adaptation, which is already receiving rave reviews from a mini release in the US.

Alongside his acting career, Rik is an established songwriter and is currently working on/arranging material for himself and other well known performance artists for commercial release and musical theatre.

Rik is a classically trained actor, graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and his theatrical pedigree was proudly established in 2004, delightedly winning a Laurence Olivier Bursary in 2004 in association with the Society of London Theatre.

In August 2011, Rik completed an Extreme Cycle Challenge for charity with TEAM EMMERDALE, riding a whopping 224 Miles in less than 24 hours, from Emmerdale to Eastenders, all in aid of MacMillan Cancer support.
