Rod Blake is the friend of Clive Hinton and Ian Hepton. Rod came to the village in March 1978 to help Clive and Ian mine minerals in a mine in Beckindale. However, whilst wiring, Rod causes the mine to explode, knocking him and Ian unconscious and injuring Clive. However, Clive and Ian made a recovery whilst Rod was left in a coma.
