Personal Life & pre-Emmerdale career[]

Hawley spent his childhood partly in England and partly in the UAE due to his parents' work. In school, Hawley took A-Level Media Studies and took part in school plays, subsequently realising his dream of becoming a film director was very difficult.

Hawley went to university and trained to become an actor at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. Before any on screen roles, Hawley performed in productions of The History Boys and Letting in Air. Hawley appeared in other television shows such as Titanic (2012) and Father Brown (2013). He has also acted in films most notably Devils Pass (2013).

Hawley left drama school at 21 winning bit parts on television. His big break in to Emmerdale at the age of 28 made him appreciate it more.

Hawley has worked as a labourer, stacked shelves and cooked Japanese food for a living.

Hawley was cast in the role of Robert Sugden in the autumn of 2014. Robert returned in Episode 7006 (23rd October 2014), and left in Episode 8637 (1st November 2019).

In January 2021, he and Daisy welcomed a baby boy called Noah.
