Simmy was a member of Reg Dawson's gang. He helps kidnap Viv Windsor and Shirley Turner and is involved in a shootout with Joe Sugden. Joe prevents Simmy from escaping in the Sugden's land rover. However Simmy manages to escape after pulling out his gun, only to be run over by Bernard McAllister, injuring his leg. Simmy dies when he crashes through a window and is shot by Reg, who mistakes him for a police officer.
